Case details

More and more companies rely on micro frontend architectures. Despite all the euphoria, this modern approach unfortunately comes with a bitter aftertaste: such architectures are usually based on proprietary solutions and workarounds. Import Maps, which at first glance seem a bit inconspicuous, will change that. In this session we will discuss what’s behind them and what potential they bring for Micro Frontends. You can see what options you have for loading Micro Frontends, sharing dependencies, and compensating for version conflicts. We also discuss interfacing with Web Components and transferring the sophisticated mental model of Module Federation to Import Map-based solutions. In the end we have a standard-compliant and therefore future-proof solution that works independently of the frameworks and build tools used.
