SAP decided few years earlier to move all, or most of, applications on cloud and preferably on Kubernetes. The main goal for us was how to migrate our monolith app from virtual machines to docker and later on Kubernetes with less as possible effort. We divided project in few important tasks and I will describe in the session how we achieved all of them on high level: • Design architecture on Kubernetes • Follow our principles on k8s as well as on VM’s (zero downtime deployment, safe shut down of application, NFS storage, security, networking, clusters…) and implementation • How to make Hazelcast and RabbitMQ work into cluster mode on k8s • Challenges: Istio sticky session, long running requests problem on AWS…
